Am I Awake? (OLD, REQUESTING CRITIQUE)

EDIT: Wow this piece is old, but i still love it. I'm going to redraw it soon, so I'd love any tips on how to make it better before i do ♥

I actually had thought about drawing this for a while, but I didn't think I could pull it off the serious way I wanted too. Like it was a chalenge, and I was afraid that I was going to put all that time into it and it trn out not like I wanted. I mean my art style is cute, and I like cute, cartoony, ect. But I wanted this piece to be beautiful. I wanted it to be ART. So I finally just brushed away my insecurities, with a little help from my muse, my panda, and picked up that pencil. I drew rough drafts on paper. A lot of rough drafts. I got helpful critiques from my fellow art students and from my boss at work. And then I woke up one morning and just decided that I was gonna finally draw it. So I started as soon as I woke up,
Then my sister called me and invited me to come over to her house >u>
And i dont really say no to her, but I told her that I wanted to draw so she told me to bring it.
So I went over to her house, we talked a little while I drew but I remained focused. It was nice, I could ask her opinion on what she liked better, this version or this one. This way or that. And after like a whole day of just drawing, and weeks of rough drafts, and so on
I was finished.

Well sorta, As much time and effort I spent on this piece I just casually uploaded it. Not taking the time to type out my struggle or anything. ;-;
And I still see room for where i cn fix it. People keep saying it looks a little like a man. It's suppose to be a self portrait of me spiritually awakening
...not a girly guy drowning ;-; misinterpretation sucks.

So as someone wise once said "An artist never truly finishes a piece, they merely abandon it." so Ill keep improving it. Maybe that one day when I abandon it, it will be finished. So if you see something you like particularly, or something you would change please speak up! I love critiques!
